Notice to Fish Harvesters

AREA 16F FALL HERRING FISHERY
Antigonish, Nova Scotia – August 24, 2011 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada wish to advise 16F herring license holders that the fall season will open on August 28 at 15:00 hours. The 2011 quota is 8,508 mt., of which 500 mt is available for the 16F summer herring fishery. The summer fishery will close by variation order when 500 mt is landed or by conditions of licence on August 26.
Fall Weekend Closures:
1. 15:00 hrs Friday, September 2 to 15:00 hrs Monday, September 5
2. 15:00 hrs Friday, September 9 to 15:00 hrs Sunday, September 11
3. 15:00 hrs Friday, September 16 to 15:00 hrs Sunday, September 18.
The fishery will re-open at 15:00 hrs on September 18, and will remain open with no weekend closures until the quota is captured and/or the fishery is closed by variation order.
