GREENLAND HALIBUT FISHERY 4RST

DECISION REGARDING MOBILE GEAR

FLEET RE-ENTRY STRATEGY

Corner Brook, Moncton, Québec City – June 15, 2009

Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) wishes to announce to the fishing industry in the

Gulf of St. Lawrence the Minister’s decision regarding the Gulf of St. Lawrence mobile gear fleet reentry

strategy for the Greenland Halibut fishery in NAFO divisions 4RST.

In the absence of a consensus and on the basis of available information the Department made the

decision not to authorize the re-entry of the mobile gear fleet in Greenland Halibut fishery within the

Gulf of St. Lawrence for 2009.

Therefore, access rules for the directed fishery remain unchanged in 2008.
