Moncton – August 2, 2011 - Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) today announced revisions to

(PEI) fixed gear fleet sector.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions forcasted for August 3, 2011, this fishery will be
delayed until 8:00 a.m. (Atlantic Daylight Time - ADT) on August 23, 2011, and end at 6:00
p.m. (ADT) on the same day.

The available quota for the fishery is 31.06 metric tones. The approved gear for this fishery is

DFO will be issuing a Notice to Fish Harvesters later today on a decision made today in consultation with the Groundfish Advisory board via conference call. There will be a change in date for the opening of the Halibut fishery for PEI fleet to August 23rd, 2011.

There has also been a DFO decision made on the reconcilliation process. With this said, the Advisory Board agreed to take the 2010 overrun (approx 8T) and spread over 3 years. Thus the new quota for PEI Halibut is 31.06T.

Lastly, Miscou box coordinates will be open for the PEI fleet - Halibut fishery.
